Tokyo Quartet

After Mozart, and Schumann, and the great Beethoven cycle – Bartok. The Tokyo will play all 6 Bartok quartets beginning with this concert and in 2 concerts in the 2012-2013 season.

The Tokyo celebrated its 40th season in Japan in February 2010 - and this is their 44th concert for MTO, having played here almost every season since its first visit in 1975.
Clockwise from top left above: violist Kazuhide Isomura is a founding member; cellist Clive Greensmith who joined in 1999; violinist Kikuei Ikeda, who joined in 1974; and Canadian violinist Martin Beaver who joined in 2002.

The Tokyo performs on “The Paganini Quartet,” a group of renowned Stradivarius instruments named for legendary virtuoso NiccolÚ Paganini, who acquired and played them during the 19th century.
