Formed in Israel nearly twenty years ago when its members were students, the Quartet was recently awarded the prestigious Cleveland Quartet Award. The Ariel serves as the Faculty Quartet-in-Residence at the University of Cincinnati’s College Conservatory of Music, where they play their own annual series of concerts in addition to their busy international touring schedule

This programme derives its title from the famous article Schumann wrote in 1853 heralding a new era with the arrival of then-unknown Brahms. The programme highlights the special relationship Schumann and Brahms shared, and looks back to Beethoven and forward to Webern.
