After we announced the season and printed the brochure came this news. First violin Joseph Lin will leave the Juilliard at the end of this 2017-18 season. Before the quartet appears on Feb 14, 2019, Greek violinist Areta Zhulla will have joined them. Ms. Zhulla serves as the Starling Fellow teaching assistant to Itzhak Perlman in The Juilliard School and is a Juilliard graduate. Ms. Zhulla has appeared as soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician throughout the United States, Europe, Canada and Asia. She will join Roger Tapping, viola, Ronald Copes, violin, and Astrid Schween, cello, in Sept. 2018.
Marc-André Hamelin needs no introduction. He plays his 12th recital on our stage in October to open this season. Among the great pianists of this age, with a discography that now numbers more than 100 recordings, he also loves to play chamber music.
